ArmInfo.Third President of Armenia, Serzh Sargsyan, touched upon his statement made in 2016 in Germany that Armenian soldiers fought with weapons of the 1980s.
During the press conference, Sargsyan noted: "I meant that despite
the fact that Azerbaijan is arming itself to the teeth and the
members of the OSCE Minsk Group turn a blind eye to this, the
Armenian army is capable of defending its homeland. As you remember,
Germany chaired the OSCE that year. "
After that, the third president of Armenia suggested that journalists
clarify whether there is an army in the world that does not have
weapons of the 1980s. <Take the example of the United States or
Israel. There are similar weapons. I will tell you even more, in
today's arsenal of the Armenian army, almost all small arms were also
produced in the 1980s. Our army also has weapons that were produced
in the 1940s and 1950s," Sargsyan stressed.
