SCR: Violation of traffic rules by a car driver caused an accident at  the crossing of the Tsovagyugh- Yerevan section
ArmInfo.Due to a gross violation of the traffic rules by the driver when crossing the  railway crossing on August 26 at the 87th km of the  Tsovagyugh-Yerevan section, a Mercedes car collided with a  technological railcar of the South Caucasian Railway Company. According to the press service of the SCR, the driver, in violation  of traffic rules, stopped at a railway crossing, talking on the  phone. As a result of the collision, the air pipe and the railroad blizzard  were damaged, on which the employees of the SCR were carrying out a  scheduled inspection of the railway infrastructure. Since the beginning of this year, this is already the eighth road  accident on the railway, which occurred due to the fault of vehicle  drivers: during the reporting period, 6 collisions of cars with  rolling stock at railway crossings and 2 falls of cars from a bridge  onto a railway track were registered. Despite the fact that in order to improve the visibility for drivers,  "South Caucasus Railways" CJSC installed observation mirrors at the  specified crossing, the state of safety does not improve. Since the  beginning of the year, this is the third accident at this crossing. The South Caucasian Railway once again urges drivers to be especially  careful when crossing railway crossings, to comply with traffic rules  and not to try to cross railway tracks in front of a moving train.  For its part, the company is taking all necessary measures to ensure  the safety of train traffic, including in close cooperation with  state authorities and law enforcement agencies. Information campaigns are regularly held, during which drivers and  residents of nearby settlements are introduced to the rules of  conduct on the railway and safety standards. The South Caucasian Railway CJSC is a 100% subsidiary of the Russian  Railways OJSC and carries out concession management of the Armenian  railways. The railway infrastructure of Armenia was transferred to  the concession management of the "South Caucasus Railways" CJSC in  accordance with the Concession Agreement signed on February 13, 2008.  The term of the concession management is 30 years with the right to  renew for another 10 years.
