Justice Minister believes that CC judge candidate from Government  will increase people`s confidence in this body
ArmInfo. Vahram Avetisyan is not Justice Minister's candidate for the position of a judge of the Constitutional Court of Armenia. Minister of Justice Rustam Badasyan stated this in an interview with journalists. Badasyan stressed that Avetisyan was nominated by the Armenian  Government, but not by him as a Minister. "I don't understand why  everyone focused on Avetisyan. His candidacy was nominated by the  government, however, then Avetisyan refused to run for the office of  judge of the Constitutional Court.  This is his personal decision,"  the Minister stressed. As for the new candidate of the Government, Edgar Shatiryan, who at  one time was elected a member of the commission for the prevention of  corruption, but then resigned from this position, since he was not  elected head of the commission, Badasyan said that the candidate  would discuss all issues with representatives of the "My Step"  faction.  Badasyan also noted that Edgar Shatiryan is the person  whose actions can definitely increase the people's confidence in the  Constitutional Court. To note, on August 17, former candidate for the position of a judge  of the Constitutional Court of Armenia Vahram Avetisyan submitted a  statement to the Chairman of the RA National Assembly on the  withdrawal of his consent regarding election to this position.  Avetisyan stated that after meeting with the MPs from the "My Step"  faction, he realized that the approaches and views of some of the MPs  regarding the role of the Constitutional Court, the apolitical and  independence of the Constitutional Court judge are not in tune with  the approaches and views of Avetisyan, and in some cases are  unacceptable for him. Thus, Avetisyan stated that he considers his  participation in the voting inappropriate. The Government has  nominated Edgar Shatiryan for this position.
