According to the investigation, bypassing the checkpoint, foreigners
entered Georgia from the territory of Armenia.
"The criminal case was initiated under the article" illegal crossing
of the state border of Georgia by a group of persons. "The crime
under this article is punishable by imprisonment for a term of four
to five years, the Georgian Interior Ministry said, Novosti-Georgia
reports.
Since the beginning of 2020, 92 foreigners have been charged with
illegal crossing of the Georgian state border. Among them, 35 are
Turkish citizens, 9 are Indian citizens, 4are Iranian citizens, 4 are
Palestinian, 1 is a Moroccan citizen and 1 is Algerian.
