Artsakh Ministry of Defense submitted a petition for conferring the  highest title
ArmInfo. The Artsakh Ministry of Defense submitted a petition to confer the highest title "Hero of Artsakh" to Captain Armenak Urfanyan, who heroically  died in the April war. Artsakh President Arayik Harutyunyan wrote  about this on his Facebook page.  "There was a lot of talk about the  selfless and patriotic behavior of Armenak Urfanyan. For a worthy  assessment of his heroic image, I think this will be the best  decision on the Day of Artsakh Republic. I will sign the decision  with pleasure and pride," Harutyunyan noted. Armenak Urfanyan, who died a hero's death, was born in 1990, served  in the Armed Forces since 2007. He was posthumously awarded the NKR  Medal "For Military Merit" with the RA Order "Battle Cross" 1st  degree. On the night of April 1 to April 2, the enemy launched an offensive  against the strongholds of the 4th rifle company. Armenak, together  with his personnel, entered into a long battle with the enemy. The  4th company of Captain Armenak Urfanyan repeatedly repulsed enemy  attacks in an unequal battle.  At 3:00 am, the position located in the direction of Martakert, where  Armenak Urfanyan and his soldiers were on duty, came under heavy  fire, then enemy tanks and hundreds of Azerbaijani soldiers went on  the offensive. Armenak ordered his six fighters to take up a  perimeter defense, accept the battle and not retreat, as he knew that  if this position surrendered to the enemy, then the rest of the  positions would be surrounded. In an unequal battle, 7 fighters led  by Armenak Urfanyan repulsed the first attack of the enemy and  knocked out one tank. In the second attack on the position of the 4th rifle company, the  enemy used large forces. The enemy tried to pave the way with the  help of the evacuation vehicle, but Armenak destroyed it too. Large  enemy forces retreated. The commander also destroyed the enemy's  engineering equipment with a grenade launcher. The enemy continued  shelling the 4th rifle company. Armenak was killed by a mine explosion. Yazidi soldier Kyaram Sloyan  perished with him. During the battle, Armenak was constantly in touch  with the battalion command, his last phrase was: "I am fighting,  using all means. I will definitely save the position, I will not  surrender>.
